The Tenth Karmapa
Tibet's Greatest Artist
Ulrich von Schroeder
This monograph documents the discovery of Chos dbyings rdo rje (1604–1674), the leader of the Tibetan bKa' brgyud order, as a great previously undocumented artist. During fourteen expeditions taking place in the 1990s, the author was able to discover in Tibet twenty-one sculptures made of copper, brass, silver, ivory, and sandalwood associated with the Tenth Karmapa. He is more and more recognized as the most illustrious Tibetan artists renowned for his sculptures and his paintings.
